Who I am

This is the personal site of Ashish Deshpande, in London. I am the controller for anything collected here. You can reach me at ashishd108@gmail.com.

Analytics, only if you say yes

If you click Accept on the cookie banner, the site loads Google Analytics 4 to count visits. If you click Reject, or do nothing, it does not load at all, and nothing is sent to Google.

With your consent, Google Analytics records the pages you view, where you came from, roughly which country and city you are in, and your device and browser type. It sets cookies whose names start with _ga to tell one visit from the next. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. I only ever see the numbers in aggregate. There are no ads on this site and the data is not used for advertising.

The lawful basis is your consent. Google acts as my processor and may handle the data outside the UK, under its own safeguards for international transfers. Google keeps it for the retention period set in Analytics, which is 2 months.

Your choice is remembered

Your Accept or Reject is stored in your browser's local storage, so the banner does not ask you on every page. That is needed to respect your choice, and it never leaves your device.

Changing your mind

Use Cookie settings here or in the footer of any page. Rejecting after accepting stops analytics and deletes the _ga cookies.

If you email me

I use your email to reply to you, and for nothing else.

Your rights

You can ask what I hold about you, and ask me to correct or delete it. Email me. If you are not happy with the answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
